Photographer, San Juan Capistrano, CA
To call Jonathan Nimerfroh obsessed with the ocean is like saying birds are obsessed with the wind. The award-winning photographer has immersed himself in saltwater swells for more than 20 years, telling saturated stories through photography.
You might remember his “slurpee wave” photographs of nearly freezing Nantucket swells a few years ago from your social media channel of choice or even Good Morning America if you are more old school. That wave also crested across The Evening News with David Muir, Yahoo.com, filled a half-page printed in the Saturday edition of the New York Times, and washed up later in Rolling Stone, the Huffington Post, Town & Country and a slew of others. When he’s not pointing his camera at waves, you’ll likely find Jonathan riding them. Even the semi-frozen ones.
Jonathan is represented by the Samuel Owen Gallery and has exhibited his work in Nantucket, Boston, MA., Greenwich, CT., and Palm Beach, FL. He is available for commercial and editorial assignments worldwide. Recent clients include: Spindrift, OutsideTV, Rainbow Sandals, Faherty Brand, The Howler Brothers and Donelan Family Wines. Jonathan lives in San Juan Capistrano, California with his wife Avalon.
